Future DBCC train drivers in Uruguay receive international certification

On June 23, the culmination of the train driver training program was made official with an emotional closing ceremony in Montevideo, Uruguay. This program, provided by DB Rail Academy, part of DB E.C.O. Group, in partnership with Transfesa Logistics, was aimed at 28 train driver candidates from DBCC Transport, a rail freight operator in Uruguay.
After more than 1,100 hours of theoretical training and approximately 330 hours of practical training, this talented group of people is now ready to achieve the ultimate goal: the Uruguayan train driver's license, issued by the National Directorate of Rail Transport -DNTF-. The train drivers training program has provided them with enough preparation to reach that goal without difficulty and become the new benchmark for train drivers in Latin America.
A tailor-made program for DBCC Transport
Seeking to offer the best solution to transfer the knowledge needed by the candidates, DB Rail Academy and Transfesa Logistics formed a strategic alliance that allowed them to consolidate an exceptional work plan. The candidates received online and face-to-face theoretical classes in Uruguay and Spain, completed a six-month internship in trains and railway infrastructure in Spain, and then returned to Uruguay for the bridge program that allowed them to apply what they had learned to local and DBCC regulations.
Fundamental to the program was the selection of different experts with international experience from countries such as Germany, Spain, Mexico, among others, who contributed with their theoretical and also practical knowledge and skills. Likewise, the use of state-of-the-art driving simulators was an essential element of the program.
This group of 28 people stood out from the beginning of the program in June 2022 for their commitment and dedication, but also for their human quality, respect and companionship. They are people who not only have the knowledge but also the skills to assume with responsibility the mission of being train drivers, where safety is the most important thing.
