During the 5th  World Congress on Rail Training  the contract between SRP and DB Rail Academy was officially signed. The contract with SRP provides the framework for the bundling of all training and further training in the railway sector and for DB to cover its needs.

The framework contract will serve the needs of Saudi Arabien's rail sector in the near future. Scope of the partnership will be for example the development of local trainers, the provision of training and education services to the sector and the support of the vision of Saudi 2030.

Saudi Railway Politechnics (SRP) was founded in 2014 in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia, and can accommodate 3,000 students aged 19-23. After a two-week assessment, students can attend a 3-year course of study in the disciplines of railway infrastructure; and railway operation and vehicle technology. The aim is to provide the railway industry with technicians, managers, engineers and train drivers - especially in view of the considerable investments, a build-up of personnel in the railway sector is advisable. The training includes locomotive drivers, maintenance of signals and train control systems, maintenance of rolling stock, station and on-board staff and infrastructure maintenance. In 2018, Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited SRP and sees SRP as a reference for training technical experts for the railway industry to international standards.
